Randall finishes 29th, drops to 7th overall

It was a tough day for the U.S. Ski Team in stage five of the Tour de Ski in Toblach. Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) was 29th in a tightly fought 3.3k classic prologue to the three stages in Toblach, dropping to seventh in the overall.

Torin Koos (Wenatchee, WA), skiing out of the Bridger Ski Foundation, and Jessie Diggins picked up opening day freestyle sprint titles as the U.S. Cross Country Championships opened at Rumford's Black Mountain.

Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) skied a strong freestyle leg on New Year's Day to take seventh in a mixed technique skiathlon, moving up to fourth in the Tour de Ski standings after four stages.
