We always study the results of our skier surveys and attempt to implement changes where possible. Some of the most important changes from last years' race are:
New race start-we have moved our start line about 150 yards east which provides us with a 20% wider start area.
New Speaker System-we will have a professional speaker system installed at the Start/Finish line in time for race weekend so that spectators can follow progress of the race leaders, etc.
Major Trail Improvements- We have conducted several major workbees this summer and fall on the Headwaters Trail and the 50k Riley's Loop. We have improved many of the passing lanes, done considerable grading and made the trails easier to groom. More work is planned before ski season begins.
We have been selected as the site for the 2012 Great Lakes Youth Ski Festival. It will be headed up by Cassidy Edwards and Eli Brown and will provide strong competition for our juniors from the five great lakes states. We hope this will improve the quality of our races for the Junior Olympics in the long run.
