The National Nordic Foundation’s Drive for 25 was a huge success, with over 750 Nordic enthusiasts pledging their support for America’s future Cross-Country and Nordic Combined stars on November 15th. Over $35,000 was committed to the program.
While many ski races in Scandinavia were being canceled due to lack of snow, the 3rd Annual SkiErg World Sprints took place last weekend in locations around the world and drew a record number of participants.
The event will feature men’s & women’s 17 km Freestyle, which is a Michigan Cup points race. There is also a 7.5 km Classic race open to everyone, and a kids race.
We have reached the 8,100 mark for Birkie/Korte registrations, and we have a total cap on these events of 9,000.
U.S. Nordic skiing is in financial trouble. While we have improved to be a nation with World Cup and World Championship podiums we are currently operating at a budget of less than a tenth of our toughest competitors.

The track dictated the use of large, pneumatic-tired roller skis, everyone was on V2 Aero 150s. Unlike most rollerski races, equipment didn't play a role in the results, making the race a more truly competitive affair.
The National Nordic Foundation will invest a record $58,000 in 5 Cross-Country Pillar projects in its first round of 2011/2012 funding. These strategic investments are made to Support Tomorrow’s Stars Today.
