The Salomon CXC Junior and Youth Cup planned for Jan 28-29, 2023 in Traverse City, Michigan at Hickory Hills Ski Area will be moved to a new venue due to low natural snow conditions in Traverse City.
Central Cross Country Skiing's Great Lakes Division's freestyle Junior National Qualifier race was held on Saturday on the hilly cross country ski trails at Boyne Mountain. Girls raced 5km while the boys skated 10km.

The Copper Country Ski Tigers won the overall Michigan State High School Cross Country Ski Championship title by taking first in the boys and third in the girls competition. Marquette Senior was second overall. TC Central won the girls title.
Copper Country leads the boys team scoring with Marquette second and Traverse City Third. Traverse City girls currently on top followed by Copper Country and Marquette.
The 2016 Junior Nationals trip for the Great Lakes District will be lead by Karmen Witham as head coach and Nick Baic as trip leader. All parties interested in attending Junior Nationals as wax techs or coaches need to apply here.

It was a Goble kind of day at the Boyne Grinder Freestyle at Boyne Mountain. Sarah Goble simply skied away from the pack, and Reid Goble nipped two competitors at the finish line.

The first Junior National race is coming up March 9. Unfortunately, snow is sparse. Race organizers have moved snow from other trails to increase coverage on a 3km loop. They have also stockpiling snow from the nearby alpine area.
The first real points race for the new season is coming up on Saturday, December 20 with Lakes of the North, followed the next day by Wintersonnewende at Michawye. New this year is the Michigan Cup Fun Series, where racers can earn 10 participation points
