In an effort to promote and support XC skiing in the Grand Traverse area and encourage community health, the Vasa Ski Club, Vasa Board and Timber Ridge Resort have combined efforts to offer skiing events focused on family and individuals having fun.

Michigan state forests have 23 cross-country ski trails in the Upper and northern Lower Peninsulas. A total of 14 trails will be groomed this season.
The Department of Natural Resources & Environment is offering free camping in the summer of 2011 for outdoor lovers who volunteer as campground hosts at Michigan state parks or state forest campgrounds.
Yankee Springs Golf Course will have cross country trails this winter. Two trails will be groomed: a longer trail of 2.8 miles and shorter trail 1.8 miles. The Yankee Springs G.C. Restaurant and Bar will be open Fridays and Saturdays for food and drink.
