The mass start pursuit included a 15k classic technique race, an infield "pit" area to change skis, and a 15k skating technique finale. Freeman, whose 15k classic specialty event is Tuesday, used it as a preparation race.
The U.S. Ski Team women showed emerging depth Saturday placing three athletes inside the top 30 in the women’s 15k pursuit at the 2011 Nordic World Ski Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo.

Norwegian media were full of race previews pitting the epic sprint battle at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships between Norway's Marit Bjoergen and pre-race favorite Kikkan Randall. Yet, it was a battle not to be as Randall fell in the quarterfinals.
