Michigan Cup race calendar for 2014-2015 includes Fun Series

The first real points race for the new season is coming up on Saturday, December 20 with Lakes of the North, followed the next day by Wintersonnewende at Michawye. October's Ski Fest and December 13th's Forbush Corner 8k Time Trial are for participation points only (1 point for racing). We take a break for Christmas and New Year's, then head to Hanson Hills for another participation-points only race, the 6-hour Team Time Trial. Then the main season racing begins the weekend of Jnauary 10 with the Frosty Freestyle and Krazy Klassic races at Huron Meadows Metropark in Brigton.

New this year is the Michigan Cup Fun Series. These will be shorter races run in conjunction with the main Michigan Cup races. Racers will earn 10 participation points for racing in a designated Fun Series Race. The For example, full Michigan Cup will be awarded for the Frosty Freestyle 15K and Krazy Classic 12K, but races who want an easier or shorter race will get 10 points if they race in the Frosty Freestyle 5K and Krazy Classic 8K events. Details about other Fun Series races will be forthcoming.

The Fun Series races are designed to let newer racers earn some serious points for their teams without having to race a long or challenging race.
