Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
To make it easy for the viewers and spectators to identify the current leaders - the overall and sprint ranking leader - of the Tour de Ski, FIS spent considerable effort to re-design the Tour leader bibs.

In a day, the Tour will kick off - so far we have seen some new faces on the podium during the World Cup and some of them have for sure a chance to win the Tour. But how do the athletes feel...here we have some statements from some favorites.
Joining Tour Father Vegard Ulvang, blogger already last year, is Pierre Mignerey - head coach of the French Team - along with Charlotte Kalla and Pietro Piller Cottrer, who are going to report regularly just before and during the event.

Here's a nice holiday gift from Universal Sports. It looks like they are going to air same-day coverage of all Tour de Ski races.
To reward the winners of the third edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski performance by Craft Sportswear, the Tour organizers will honor them with a special trophy
The third edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski performance by Craft Sportswear will kick off in just 3 days now, on 27th December. 9 days, 7 races, 4 venues in three countries - that will be the Tour de Ski 2008/2009.
So far we have 19 nations at the start with 58 ladies and 75 men. This number may change if an athlete for example gets sick. The Tour is a tough event and the nations only enter the best athletes for it.
The USSA Cross Country Junior Olympics will be held in the Twin Cities in 2011. The event will take place at historic Theodore Wirth Park, part of the Minneapolis Park & Recreation system.
Many times at Swix we are asked what our BW waxes are, and when to use them. The following article adapted from a paper written by the two top Swix Chemists in Norway should help to answer some of those questions.

Forbush Corner: Here is our plan going forward into the week. The shop will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. The side gate on Roberts Rd will be left open, and the trails will be available to ski. If not a season pass holder, please leave a $10 trail fee in the slot provided near the east shop entrance.
On Friday, we will resume full operation through Monday. We expect that this will be it for the season.
Forbush Corner: Temps went below zero last night and some light lake effect snow is falling. We will be grooming, check Nordic pulse on our website later this morning for the fresh groom. We still have 100% coverage on our trail system. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
Forbush Corner: My third ski in the last 5 days and it was wonderful. I used my good skis on the beautiful corduroy. Glide was fast control perfect. I did pines to Hartwick Pines back on AB down that wonderful hill to Badlands loop to ridge. Could be my last day but what a winner. Thank you Forbush ( and Mother Nature) for this wonderful season.
Dunes Golf Club: Finally a very supportive crust has developed.
Cold nights and cold days with sunny times helps maintain funness!
Always use caution as crust has some surprises.
At the dunes golf conditions are more predictable and tree shading extends ski time as things soften throughout the day.
Crust areas are area wide like open farmland (corn and hay fields).
Limited parking at entrance
Serious fun

Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Monday Morning Skiers! It's another beautiful sunny morning....the temp is currently at -6 C, warming up to -1 C.
The groomer is currently out -- the skate lane on the entire Pinder system was freshened up with the Ginzu, and the 2k Lighted skate lane will be freshened up as well. The tracks are still in really good shape. Updates will be posted if further grooming is done.
The Mabel Lake trail was groomed yesterday morning.
We hope everybody has a great day!! :)

Stokely Creek: Classic tracks away from the Lodge were total "chefs kiss" perfection! Skating lane looked great but could still be a little stiffer for spring zooming.
Nubs Nob: Top 2-3 skate of the season this AM at Nubs. Firm and fast powertilled cord on all the loops with a deep track set. After 3+ feet of snow last weekend conditions have been world class since Tuesday. Forecast looks great for this upcoming week and World Cup level grooming will continue until they close in two weeks. Hard to imagine better conditions anywhere in North America currently. Thank you to the crew at Nubs for their commitment to Nordic skiing. Thanks to their efforts we have had an amazing uninterrupted season out there since December 1.
Forbush Corner: The weird concrete snow that we received from the last storm turned into sugar mush yesterday once it was groomed. It rained this morning and is close to freezing. It's to warm to groom with the Pisten Bully at this time. We are going to try to use the Tiddtech to smooth out the skate lanes on the loop. If the base is too soft for the snowmobile we will not continue grooming. Classic tracks are icy at this. Colder temps tonight will allow us to groom on Monday. Base is in great shape with 100% coverage.
