Throughout the XC race season and during the summer we’ve talked to a lot of riders, runners, triathletes, and folks just wanting to get out and enjoy the winter and XC skiing. Many have asked for some basic instruction and advice...Now's the chance.
Many skiers in the Great Lakes Division of CXC Skiing are getting ready to head off to either the TD Bank J2 Championships in Plymouth, NH on March 8-10, 2013, or to the 2013 USSA Marriott Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships in Alaska.
Vasa Ski Club's Eli Brown made it a double weekend, winning both the Vasa 50K and the Gran Travers 16K Classic. Alison Crocker took her second vicotry of the season to win the women's title.
It was déjà vu for Chicago's Andrew Nadler, winning the 27K Vasa for the second time in three years. Last year's 50k women's winner, Amy Powell, was the top women, winning in 1:35:09.

Eli Brown finished more the three minutes ahead of second place finisher Alex Vanais, and Angela Palomaki ran away with the women's finish.
Once again, we will offer our Jr. Vasa races for kids ages 3-15 in events ranging from 1km to 3km in length, starting at 12:30pm on Saturday.

The skiing prognosis for the weekend looks like some of the best skiing in several years. We have a star-studded cast of some of the top citizen skiers in the Midwest including a young lady who won the Women's Mora 50k race in Minnesota last weekend.
