Cross Country Ski Headquarters wins another Michigan Cup! Good job getting your skiers out, Headquarters!
Northern Michigan Head Coach Sten Fjeldheim and St. Scholastica Head Coach Chad Salmela have been selected CCSA Coaches of the Year; Fjeldheim for the men’s team, and Salmela for the women’s. The award is voted on by all the CCSA coaches.
Red is our choice for storage waxing as Blue is so hard that it is more difficult to make sure that there is no air between the ski and base and Yellow is so soft that it gets "eaten away" quicker.
Start your bidding on unique and one of a kind gear – sure to round out your skiing and training needs. Winning bids and donations directly support CXC Skiing programming and events.
The Pursuit Race consisted of skiers racing classic first, then switching to a freestyle leg. Erin Lipp and Ian Duran each had the fastest classic and freestyle legs in the race.
Using what was left of the artificial snow made back in December, Bob, Stu and crew created a twisty, hilly, 200-yard loop course on the ski park, which was just long enough to get the skiers out of breath and make shooting the guns an exciting challenge.
The Michigan Cup Relays consisted of teams of three racing an 8km loop. The first leg is classic; the second and third leg were freestyle. After the race was a huge party and awards ceremony.
Because of the incredible snow depth on the Ski Park (and because we refuse to let winter die), we will host the Paintball Biathlon this Saturday, March 21st! This will be a one day event, held at Cross Country Ski Headquarters and NOT at Hanson Hills.
A furious start to the 30k Holmenkollen event set the stage for aggressive racing and impressive performances from the U.S. women competing in the famed race to close the World Cup season. Liz Stephen finished ninth, tying her own USA-best-ever 30k.
rian Gregg (Winthrop, WA) led the U.S. men in 35th place at the venerable 50K race at Oslo’s Holmenkollen venue. The race, run under sunny skies and fast tracks, stayed together for much of its length.
Norway made short work of the final World Cup sprint of the season, a classic race in their home country, by sweeping both the men’s and women’s podium and taking seven of the top ten places in both competitions.
Wax recommendations (Fast Wax and Toko so far....) for this weekend's Muffin Pursuit race.
