Sadie Bjornsen 21st in Lillehammer freestyle sprint

Bjornsen was the lone American to advance to the heats after qualifying in 16th place, eventually placing 21st overall in the freestyle sprint. Andrew Newell took 36th for the men.

A broken fibula is going to put a big crimp on Noah Hoffman 's World Cup seaon. Hoffman broke it on a a very familiar but fast downhill corner in the 15 kilometer classic individual start race in Kuusamo, Finland.

Sadie Bjornsen takes 17th in Ruka; Noah Hoffman heads to hospital

Sadie Bjornsen led the U.S. Ski Team with a 17th place in the 10k classic individual event in Ruka. Noah Hoffman was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation of an ankle injury following a crash on a steep and icy descent.

Skiers enjoyed a 62 deg sunny day to race. Overall winners were Steve Smigiel Jr. and Heidi Schwab. Particularly noteworthy was the performance of Ryan Durand, age 12 who finished 3rd overall besting the times of many seasoned Michigan Cup racers.
