The Great Lakes Winter Trails Council named Milan Baic, the “Ski Coach of the Year.” Milan received this special award and recognition because of the countless hours that he has dedicated to promoting cross country skiing in the Great Lakes Region.
In the sixth year of operation, the Michigan Cup Committee voted unanimously to award a plaque of appreciation to the http://NordicSkiRacer.com website and it’s founder, owner and diligent and only worker, Mike Muha.
The Michigan Cup Team with the highest total Junior points is awarded the Baic Cup. The Cup is named in honor of Nickola Baic’s significant and long standing contribution to the Junior ski racing in the Great Lakes District of the USSA.
Congratulations to the Cross Country Ski Headquarters Team for winning the 2010 Michigan Cup, the forth time in a row, and the fifth time since 2004! The Headquaters also took the Brumbaugh Cup, but the Baic Cup went to the Vasa Ski Club.
Several awards are bestowed upon indivduals and teams at the conclusion of the Junior Olympics: The Alaska Cup Award, USSA Junior Olympic Club Team Award, Roger Weston Award, and the Dave Quinn Award for the outstanding cross country skier.
With the cancellation of the Boyne Highlands races last weekend, the individual standings after the Black Mountain Classic became the final standings. Here are the age group and overall winners.
Although the Relays have melted away, the Michigan Cup Awards lunch banquet WILL start at noon at the Cross Country Ski Heaquarters as originally planned. And there will be a 10 am bike ride around Higgins Lake.

After last nights rain and low temps in the 40's overnite, we have been forced to cancel the races. We still have a good base, however, it is much too soft to put grooming equipment on the trails.
A very narrow margin separates the Cross Country Ski Headquarters from Hanson Hills/Cross Country Ski Shop and from the Vasa Ski CLub in the overall Michigan Cup team standings trhough the Black Mountain Classic.
