While Saturday's Black Mountain Classic was deemed "The Beauty", Sunday's skate race was "The Beast", according to Michael Bourassa. Michael Seaman described the course as "11k-ish uber hilly, with steep ups, and very fast wide open descents.

Saturday was another spring-like day for the 30k classic at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships where Liz Stephen (East Montpelier, VT) finished 16th, taking the top spot for U.S. women.

It was a back and forth race with the USA in the lead or first chase group much of the race, finishing just a minute back from Norwegian Petter Northug who anchored Norway to the gold.
