The Yellowstone Ski Festival kicked off with a bang yesterday in West Yellowstone, Montana. Great snow and outstanding trail conditions have Ski Festival attendees grinning from ear to ear.,

We got our first significant snowfall - 3 inches. The ground is still warm and we have melting from below. We will start grooming Monday, weather permitting, to freeze the trail base, with hopes of opening for the weekend.,
We have received about 4 inches of new snow since Friday night and there is more snow in the forecast for tomorrow.,
There was enough snow to get in a good classical workout with some double poling, diagonal striding and even some double pole kick as well as some hills. That wet stuff dripping down my back and down my forehead is definitely not the morning dew.,
A couple of University of Michigan skiers showed up for the Saturday morning rollerski at Kensignton Metropark. We had another perfect day for rollerskiing! A few of us took it easy in preparation for tomorrow's Duathlon.,
Hanson Hills has re-routed it's trails once again this year. The major changes are on the Red trail, which is now a completely new trail system.,
In the Iron Ore Heritage Area in Marquette county, the new trail is envisioned to be used year-round by walkers, runners, hikers, nature enthusiasts, equestrians, bicyclists, cross country skiers, snowshoers & snowmobilers.,
We got two inches of the white stuff last night and more is expected off and on through the weekend.,
