Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) finished second in Sunday's World Cup nordic combined competition in Schonach, Germany. After finishing 18th in the jumping portion of the event, Demong skied the second fastest 10K to take his third podium of the season.

MTU Skiers battle sub-zero temperatures at US Nationals

The Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams had three men finish in the top-100 in the 10-kilometer freestyle race at the US National Championships Monday (Jan. 5). The race, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed until today due to sub zero temperatures.

The U.S. Ski Team's Kris Freeman (Andover, NH) won his 11th U.S. title and Caitlin Compton (Minneapolis, MN) her third as the 2009 ConocoPhillips U.S. Cross Country Championships kicked off Monday with 10K and 5K freestyle in Anchorage.
