Jan Petter Lovald of Hopkins, Minnesota, quickly went off the front with new inline skate wheels. I tried to close the gap on the first uphill, but realized it was not possible, especially on the flats and downhills.

Birkie champion Matt Liebsch rollerskied a blazing 2:44 per mile pace to win the 17th Annual NorthShore Rollerski Marathon in 1:11:28 this past Saturday. Local Michigan Cup skier Randy Bladel was 16th overall for the men, finishing in 2:01:01.

Keep an eye on these updates as the Birkie, Korte, and Prince Haakon events begin to approach the cap of 10,000. Right now a total of more than 8,400 skiers are registered. This means waves are starting to fill as well.
