Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
The cross country World Cup is set to shift into continuous mode this weekend as U.S. athletes arrived above the Arctic Circle Wednesday night. Live timing will be available online.,
Thought you might enjoy these pictures of the latest iteration of my hot box.,
We received some 35 cm of snow in the night from Saturday to Sunday on top of the man-made snow already on our courses and the forecast calls for more snow for the rest of the week.,
At the top of the leader board with the most career SuperTour wins are Carl Swenson and Canandian Olympic gold medalist Beckie Scott , both with 21 wins during their careers.,
Part 1 discussed basic hydration, caloric intake, and the problem with simple sugars. Part 2 continued with the topics of protein and electrolytes during training. In this final installment, the topics turn to pre-race, race, and post-race fueling.,
With the heavy wet snow, there were quite of few tree limbs down in the path. I did some trail clearing while waiting for Garrett to catch up.,
Here's a 2005 season Toko tech bulletin on how and when to use which Toko brush. Compare with the Swix recommendations in the adjoining article!,
Knowing which brush to use when can be confusing and sometimes, and sometimes controversial. I have five brushes in my wax box.,
It was cold again but not like last year. Most days were up into the single digits with last Friday at a balmy 17F.,
It was a beautiful day for skiing in West Yellowstone. We ended up with about 8 inches of new snow and there is more on the way!,
Next weekend we have our second world cup of the season. We have a distanceskate race and a relay in Gallivare about an hour south of here. Following Newell's top 10 in the last world cup we're heading down stoked to give it all we can.,
In the real world, you don't always have time to iron in glide wax, scrape and brush. So how do you keep your bases from drying out?,

Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Sunny Friday Morning!! It's a gorgeous morning up here....albeit a little more chilly, temp currently at -16 C. However, it's going to be a splendous day up here!
The groomer is currently on the trails -- the 2k Lighted was completed, Piston Bully groomed, for both classic and skate. He is currently on the 4k Pinder (no loops will be groomed today, still in good shape). The Crystal system will be done after that. We will update if the Red Pine system will be done.
Come on everybody, grab your gear, and take in this beautiful sunny day!!
Reminder: Come up tomorrow (Saturday) from 12-4 p.m. for our Customer Appreciation BBQ.....enjoy a hotdog (or two), and enjoy a lovely social afternoon :)
Forbush Corner: The rain is moving out soon and the temps will be dropping well below freezing tonight, allowing us to head out on the trails tomorrow. We still have 100% coverage, but expect that the grooming will be a bit slower than usual. East side trails and Pines Loop will get the fresh groom. Trails and shop open at 9. Gates close at 5. (We plan to be open tomorrow through Monday).
Hiawatha Highlands: Good Morning Everyone!! It's another calm morning, a bit foggy. The temperature was warm overnight, now sitting at -1 C.
There was no grooming with the warm overnight temps, the trails are still in good shape.
We hope everybody has a great day :)
Nubs Nob: Absolutely great today . Nubs groomers are showing off their deep hard pack base with near daily grooming and fresh snow contributions. The Spring Sweat Spot seems consistent between 10 AM to 1:30 pm . Not to be missed !
Nubs Nob: Perfect late March conditions this AM on all the upper and lower loops. With the base being measured in feet, and persistent grooming, this Friday-Sunday AM should be some of the best conditions of the entire winter at Nubs!
Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Well, despite our best efforts, we are going to shut down the trail system for the season. Too many barespots and debris. We are closing the Cafe for the season as well. We will likely have a 'trail cleanup BBQ' sometime in early may, and rest assured, the trails will be glorious by next season.
We are incredibly grateful for the epic winter we had and all the wonderful skiing we got to do! Certainly a winter for the books. Thank you for skiing with us this year and bringing such good cheer to the skiing community. May the 'off-season' treat you well, and we look forward to skiing with you next year!
Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Middle of the Week Everyone!! It's currently a calm morning, with more snow in the forecast today. The temperature is currently -4 C.
The groomer was out last evening -- all systems were Piston Bully groomed for both classic and skate. With the cooler temps overnight, they may be a little icy to start the day.
Mabel Lake trail was groomed yesterday as of 1:30 p.m.
Have a great day, everyone!!
