Former Michigan Cup racer and current member of the Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team Reid Goble has had a great couple weeks. First, he won the Minneapolis SuperTour race. Then he won a gold medal serving as a guide in the Paralympics. Finally, he's been chosen to race in the Men's 10km interval start classic race (3/20) at the FIS World Cup Finals in Lake Placid NY. Way to go Reid!
Lots of new and great things at Huron Meadows this year. 7.5 miles of skating and 12ish miles of classic, new trails, new maps and trail signs on the way, new grooming equipment to help speed up the grooming after the snows.
Our delay in Rovaniemi was nice while it lasted, but it meant a late night - arriving at the hotel in Helsinki at about 1:30AM. Grover had an early flight and was out the door before 5:30.
Fischer discusses the technology found in their RCS Carbonlite skate and classic boots.
I've got almost 50 years of skiing experience and some people think I've got fast skis. If this is true it's because I keep things simple.
Kris was 16th (tied) yesterday in Kuusamo. It’s not the result he was looking for, but it’s quite respectable for a basically pedestrian day. He set the race up perfectly - was running right near 10th place, and definitely within striking distance.
The U.S. Ski Team's Kris Freeman pulled within one minute of the leader to finish 16th in a World Cup cross country 15K race Sunday in Kuusamo. Freeman, a diabetic, tied for his spot for his second straight top 20 finish.
The 2009 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships are divided between two nations this year - an exception for 2009 because of the extremely short time remaining until the event to find an organizer to carry out all three disciplines.
VIdeo from the 2009 World Cup classic race at Kussamo, Finland. A great video for wathcing technique!
The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team's Morgan Arritola won the women's 10K freestyle race as the USSA Cross Country SuperTour wrapped up in West Yellowstone Saturday. Canada's Ivan Babikov swept both men's races over the weekend.
The U.S. Ski Team's Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT) kicked off the first World Cup classic sprint of the season with an 11th place finish Saturday in Finland. Norway swept the men's podium.

Forbush Corner: Here is our plan going forward into the week. The shop will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. The side gate on Roberts Rd will be left open, and the trails will be available to ski. If not a season pass holder, please leave a $10 trail fee in the slot provided near the east shop entrance.
On Friday, we will resume full operation through Monday. We expect that this will be it for the season.
Forbush Corner: Temps went below zero last night and some light lake effect snow is falling. We will be grooming, check Nordic pulse on our website later this morning for the fresh groom. We still have 100% coverage on our trail system. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
Forbush Corner: My third ski in the last 5 days and it was wonderful. I used my good skis on the beautiful corduroy. Glide was fast control perfect. I did pines to Hartwick Pines back on AB down that wonderful hill to Badlands loop to ridge. Could be my last day but what a winner. Thank you Forbush ( and Mother Nature) for this wonderful season.
Dunes Golf Club: Finally a very supportive crust has developed.
Cold nights and cold days with sunny times helps maintain funness!
Always use caution as crust has some surprises.
At the dunes golf conditions are more predictable and tree shading extends ski time as things soften throughout the day.
Crust areas are area wide like open farmland (corn and hay fields).
Limited parking at entrance
Serious fun

Hiawatha Highlands: Happy Monday Morning Skiers! It's another beautiful sunny morning....the temp is currently at -6 C, warming up to -1 C.
The groomer is currently out -- the skate lane on the entire Pinder system was freshened up with the Ginzu, and the 2k Lighted skate lane will be freshened up as well. The tracks are still in really good shape. Updates will be posted if further grooming is done.
The Mabel Lake trail was groomed yesterday morning.
We hope everybody has a great day!! :)

Stokely Creek: Classic tracks away from the Lodge were total "chefs kiss" perfection! Skating lane looked great but could still be a little stiffer for spring zooming.
Nubs Nob: Top 2-3 skate of the season this AM at Nubs. Firm and fast powertilled cord on all the loops with a deep track set. After 3+ feet of snow last weekend conditions have been world class since Tuesday. Forecast looks great for this upcoming week and World Cup level grooming will continue until they close in two weeks. Hard to imagine better conditions anywhere in North America currently. Thank you to the crew at Nubs for their commitment to Nordic skiing. Thanks to their efforts we have had an amazing uninterrupted season out there since December 1.
Forbush Corner: The weird concrete snow that we received from the last storm turned into sugar mush yesterday once it was groomed. It rained this morning and is close to freezing. It's to warm to groom with the Pisten Bully at this time. We are going to try to use the Tiddtech to smooth out the skate lanes on the loop. If the base is too soft for the snowmobile we will not continue grooming. Classic tracks are icy at this. Colder temps tonight will allow us to groom on Monday. Base is in great shape with 100% coverage.
