Hello Friends of TART,
You are invited to celebrate new paving on Leelanau Trail. The section stretches 2.2 miles from the Suttons Bay Village limits south to Revold Road. See the attached photo of the new paving. (In the photo, the asphalt was still hot as the roller machine operator smoothed the trail surface.)
The ribbon-cutting celebration will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2006. If you would like to attend the ceremony, please meet at the Leelanau County Road Commission, located at 10550 E. Eckerle Road (off Center Hwy.) in Suttons Bay. The ceremony will take place on the nearby Leelanau Trail.
TART is encouraging participants to bring their bicycle, walking shoes, or in-line skates. After the ribbon is cut, TART officials will invite participants to use the newly paved trail.
Bob Otwell, Executive Director of TART, will also be leading a bike ride on the trail from Traverse City to Suttons Bay for those of you who would like to ride to the ceremony. If you would like to join him, please meet at the TART sculpture plaza (on the TART Trail near the boat launch in Clinch Park) at 8:00 am or at the Cherry Bend Trailhead at 8:15 am.
For more information, please contact the TART Trails office at 231-941-4300.
