All of our plans and preparations for the 2004 North American Vasa are coming together beautifully! As many of you know, the Grand Traverse area has received over 70 inches of snow during January. The Tart Trails grooming team has been grooming continuously to keep up with the snowfall and ski conditions are as good as they have been in ten years. The 12k, 27k and 50k course are all prepared and ready for an incredible Nordic racing weekend.
The traditional closing event for the Vasa Festival of Races is Family Fun Day which will run from noon to 3pm. on Sunday, February 15th. The attached flier outlines all the activities from the Frozen Fish Toss to Paint Ball Biathlon and much more. We have also added sledding/tobogganing this year on the first slope off the trailhead. We are also offering free birthday cakes for groups that would like to celebrate a child’s birthday party on snow. Our co-host for Family Fun Day this year is Gordie Howe’s Tavern and Eatery. They will be serving some of their delicious specialties including ribs, chicken, hot dogs, baked beans, etc.
Family Fun Day is one way that the Vasa organization can show their appreciation by hosting the children of our skiers, volunteers, sponsors and neighbors. Please pass the word and join us for a great afternoon of winter fun, great food and friendship.
