NTN Annual Meeting- Attention all Members!
The NTN's annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at 6:30pm at UP Front & Company. The event will include a Members Reception, a Silent Auction & the Annual Business Meeting. Highlights of the evening will include new information on the Capital Campaign & the Forestville Trailhead project, updates on the Hiawatha Water Trail & election of new board members. Members are encouraged to let Susan Brian know if you can attend @ 228-6182 so we can plan accordingly.
The NTN & SSC Partner for the Big Bay Relay
It is with much excitement to notify Silent Sports Enthusiasts about the newly formed partnership for the Big Bay Relay! After many years as Race Director, Pam Clark is handing the reins over to the two organizations. Deadline for the Relays is today, May 10th. However, if you still have a team that is interested, you may contact Pam and she may be able to fit you in. Fee for the event is $55. The Registration form is available on the NTN's website, noquetrails.org.
Uncommon Family Bike Tour Planned
Saturday, May 20th, at the Commons in Downtown Marquette, the Inaugural Uncommon Family Bike Tour will take place! The first event of its kind in Marquette...an even that is geared towards families encouraging together time and fitness! The event will take place on the Bike Path in Marquette, with a Fruit Stand aid station at Presque Isle sponsored by Farmer Q's Market.
The Noquemanon Trail Network and UP Children's Museum will receive the proceeds from this newly planned event in Marquette. Registration forms are available on the NTN's website, noquetrails.org or on the Mining Journal's site miningjournal.net.
Win a TREK 8000 Mountain Bike This Summer!
The Noquemanon Trail Network is kicking off its first raffle, with the opportunity for someone to win a $1300 mountain bike, donated by Sports Rack! The tickets are available through NTN Board Members or by contacting Susan Brian @ 228-6182. Tickets are $3 or 2/$5.
National Trails Day- A Great Volunteer Day!
The NTN is partnering with the Superiorland Ski Club and the Marquette Board of Light and Power for this great volunteer event! June 3rd, at 1pm, volunteers are asked to meet at the Tourist Park Trailhead, on County Road 550. Volunteers should bring shovels, post hold diggers, gloves, bug spray & sunscreen. Participants will be planting 200+ trees along the Noquemanon Trail to serve as wind shields to better accommodate the snow on the trail and to make it more aesthetically pleasing! The trees were attained through the Marquette County Conservation District. Water & Clif Bars will be provided for all participants. Call Susan Brian, 228-6182 for more information.
MTB Time Trial Held, May 6th.
The first Mountain Bike Time Trial was held on Saturday, May 6th at Tourist Park Trailhead on the Noquemanon Trail. 16 racers tested their speed on the 5.2 mile course, with Mary Connor & Jeff Juntti prevailing as overall Female and Male winners. The next race will take place on June 3rd at the Harlow Lake Trails.
