Igor Badamshin skied on the Russian National Team from 1988 up through the World Championships in Thunder Bay in 1996. During his athlete years he skied at the front of the World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Winter Games. He is 10 times Russian National Champion. From 1996 to 2003 he was head coach of Team Dinamo, St.Petersburg, Russia. During those years his athletes earned top 10 finishes in all of the Olympics and World Championships and 34 World Cup podiums. He is currently coaching with his wife Nina Gavryluk, one of Russia's most celebrated women Cross Country skiers, at Gunstock Ski Club, Gilford, NH. Nina will be in the Midwest for a Masters Camp in October.
Igor had a tremendous rapport with athletes, and presented fine topics of with various dry land and rollerski drills. Over 30 enthusiastic skiers attended clinic in Madison and Hayward. Several of them conducted VO2 testing.
CXC has purchased, and several Team coaches have been trained to operate the most highly technical VO2 and CO2 analyzer available. VO2 test measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at different exertion levels while you exercise on a bike or treadmill. This is done as you breathe trough a mask during a short workout. The recorded information is then used to determine your personal Intensity Zones. These zones will give you specific target heart rates required for each level of intensity. It too is a valuable tool in developing specific individual training plans. Training and exercising within your zones will get you results that will amaze you!
More clinics for master/citizen skiers are coming on:
