Novel Winning Technique at Race Finish

Here's a novel new approach to winning a race at the finish, adpated from baseball. Last year, at the European xc ski championships in Cortina, Italy, the Spanish racer Gutierrez successfully used the new approach to beat the competition at the finish line.
Now that the season is (almost) over it can be revealed that several members of the Cross Country Ski Headquarters team have secretely trained this slick new technique and are ready for next season to take back the Michigan cup.
