As the world's best cross-country ski athletes close in on the completion of the 2011-12 season, Kikkan Randal from the US and Canada's Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey are in contention for the best-ever American and Canadian finishs on the Overall World Cup standings.
Kikkan Randall currently sits fourth overall, up from tenth at the end of the 2010-2012 season, and it not very far behind Therese Johaug of Norway. Kershaw sits in third place in the Overall medal count behind Switzerland's Dario Cologna and Norway's Petter Northug. Kershaw's World Championship teammate and sport phenom, Harvey, is hungry to improve on his seventh-place standing.
Kershaw finished eighth in 2011, while Harvey was 10th overall on the World Cup.
