Michigan Cup: Michigan Cup Sprints

"Ya, the women's final sprint finish was just as exciting as the men's. It was a drag race between Sue, Amy, and Laura. You girls rock!" exclaimed Curt Peterson after the 2012 Michigan Cup Sprints at Timber Ridge in Traverse City.

Although Amy Powel's qualifying time trial was fastest, and Susan Vigland's the second fastest time, when they raced head to head in the women's final, Vigland came out on top. Laura Web was third overall after finising third in the opening time trial. That made it a podium sweep for the VASA Ski Club.

The men's sprint race was similar: Dan Yankus had the fastest qualifying time, only to finish second. Milan Baic with the second fastest qualifying came back and took first overall. Third place John Goble had the sixth fastest qualifying time and should be congratulated for saving his strength for the grande finale!
