Due to significant overnight rain, all racing and the scheduled welcoming ceremony today for the 2012 US Cross Country Championships at Rumford's Black Mountain of Maine have been postponed.
What we know now...: Overnight rains have saturated the manmade snow. Over the next 24 hours temperatures are forecast to decline quickly to more seasonal sub-freezing numbers. Any use or grooming of the snow, until the water drains from it and temperatures fall, will result in loss of snow and/or compaction turning to boilerplate ice. Manmade snow, when left untouched after rain, drains and can be re-groomed.
The freestyle sprint at U.S. Cross Country Championships in Rumford, ME have been moved to Tuesday at 9:00AM. Thanks to the race organization, Chisholm Ski Club and Black Mountain for their continued efforts to provide a championship event.
