Michigan Tech opens ski season in West Yellowstone

WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. - A small group of Michigan Tech Nordic skiers opened the 2011 season at the West Yellowstone Super Tour.

Rachel Mason posted a pair of top-30 finishes in the sprints. She finished 24th in the classic sprint and 29th in the freestyle sprint. Brendan Baic competed in the freestyle sprint finishing 60th.

Alice Flanders posted the highest finish of the weekend finishing 22nd (30:07) in the 10-kilometer freestyle. Malin Eriksson was 57th (32:58). Eriksson was the lone competitior in the five-kilometer classic race finishing 39th (17:08).

The Huskies had two men compete in the 15-kilometer freestyle. Matt Dugan was 76th (44:00) and Brendon Baic was 95th (47:12).
