MARQUETTE, Mich. – Andy Liebner, of the Northern Michigan University Nordic ski team, has been selected as the Central Collegiate Ski Association Regional Skier of the Year for 2010-11. The CCSA coaches selected Liebner for the award at their annual meeting on Monday (May 23).

Liebner consistently finished at the top throughout the season and was an All-American in both the classic and freestyle at the NCAA Championship as he finished eighth in the classic and ninth in the freestyle. Liebner was named to the all-CCSA first team and won both the freestyle and classic at the CCSA Championship. He finished second in both races at the NCAA Regional to qualify for Nationals.
“Andy is the type of athlete who never stops trying to improve on his skills and abilities to be a better athlete and person,” NMU head coach Sten Fjeldheim said. “He maintains a high academic standard and shows great sportsmanship and leadership. I truly enjoy working with Andy.”
Liebner hold a 3.61 grade-point average in physical education and coaching.
