We had 56 registrants this year, and the conditions couldn't have been better, with sunny skies, no wind, and -8C at the start. The new front renovator that we purchased for the PB was made with spring conditions in mind, and it gave us a beautiful, clean, white corduroy of very fine-grained ice crystals, that proved to be very fast - the winning time for the 15k event was under 36 minutes!
The post-race barbecue was enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. We're thinking of moving the Hiawatha Invitational from it's traditional "coldest weekend of the year' spot in late January to a late March date on a permanent basis, so look for it again next year at this time.
