Ben Hugus of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Summer Ellefson, Park Rapids, Minnesota, skied to victory during the 23-kilometer Kortelopet skate race sponsored by Marshfield Clinic of Hayward finishing at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisc.
Hugus finished the Korte skate race in 57:14.7, and Ellefson finished in 1:06:41.8.
Placing second in the men’s skate Korte race division was Scott Johanik, Washburn, Wisc., finishing in 57:19.1; and Dmitry Kirillov, Moscow, Russia, placed third in 57:23.8.
Placing second in the women’s skate Korte division, Nicolette Reker, Little Canada, Minn., finished in 1:06:46.2, and Annie Harvieux, Duluth, Minn., placed third in 1:07:11.4.
In the 23-kilometer Kortelopet classic division, Paul Schommer, Appleton, Wisc., took top honors in 1:01:39.1; Dylan Ramstad Skoyles, from Detroit Lakes, Minn., placed second in 1:07:54.3, and David Joda, Nashotah, Wisc., placed third with a time of 1:09:02.
In the women’s classic Kortelopet division, Nora Gilbertson, Lake Elmo, Minn., took top honors in 1:13:17; Marissa Yovetich, Andover, Minn., placed second with a time of 1:16:22.8; and Alice Flanders, Crystal, Minn., placed third with a time of 1:16:23.2.
The Prince Haakon 12K, sponsored by the State Bank of Drummond, started following the Birkie and Korte wave starts at 10:15 a.m. Alex Larson of Hayward, Wisc. won the skate division in a time of 35:25.
Sarah Lyngby was the winner of the women’s skate, finishing in 43:44.
The classic division of the Prince Haakon 12K was won by Drew Gustafson, Ely, Minn., finishing in 44:32.2 and Anne Miller of Minnetonka, Minn. won the women’s classic division in 56:46.
