Michigan Cup votes on replacement races for this weekend

With cancellation of so many races this season, including the cancellation of the Boyne Mountain Grinder Freestyle race this coming weekend, skiers have been clamouring for make-up races. The Michigan Cup Committee has received two invitations for Michigan Cup races this coming weekend:

• A Saturday 12K skate race at Hanson Hills in Grayling
• A Sunday 10-15K classic race at Huron Meadows Metropark in Brighton

An email asking for a vote has gone out to members of the Michigan Cup Committee.

The choice is not easy. Some skiers heading to the Birkie or Ottowa Cup expecting to miss only the Boyne Mountain race now could miss two races - and the points those entail. Others think the travel required between the two venues is too much to ask. Others who had to miss earlier races would really like two make-up races.

The vote will decide the two races independently. We could have one, the other, both, or neither. A decision is likely in the next 24 hours.
