Kikkan Randall started her World Championships mission. U.S Ski Team is already in Norway and spends couple of days in Lillehamer.
Kikkan Randall spoke to fiscrosscountry.com while waiting for the plane from Alaska to Oslo.
Q: Kikkan, what was your program after World Cup in Liberec?
Kikkan Randall: After Liberec I came home to Alaska and spent three weeks taking a little recovery, doing some training, spending time with our kittens and washing all my dirty clothes from 2 months on the road. It's been great!
Q: How did your training regime look like?
K.R.: I have put in some distance training and a few days back in the gym. Also got in a few good interval sessions with my teammates.
Q: How will you spend last two weeks before the World Championships?
K.R.: I'll first head to Lillehammer for a little training and time adjustment and then head to Drammen World Cup. The next three weeks will go fast. Just looking forward to settling in and eating a lot of brown cheese! Most of the training is done now and it's just time to rest up and get fired up for an awesome atmosphere in Oslo!
Q: After Liberec you took over the lead in the Sprint World Cup standing. Did it give you motivation and confidence?
K.R.: I didn't really expect to be leading the Sprint Cup so it was a nice surprise when I heard I had the lead after Liberec. It was actually a little hard to go home and miss the chance to defend the leader's bib in Otepaa. I definitely gained some confidence and motivation from leading and I hope to be able to stay up in the standings through the end if the season.
