Salomon's new high-end boots feature the RS17 outsole: the front pin that is now 17 mm behind the front of the boot instead of the 10 mm (RS10) of past years. How does this affect people with older boots and older bindings? If I were to buy a pair of S-Lab Skate Pro's this year, would they work in my older Pilot and Profile bindings?
I asked Andrew Gerlach about Salomon binding / boot compatibility. Andrew provided two different compatibility charts, one for SNS bindings with the original flexor and one for SNS bindings with a "cut" flexor or a Pilot Comp Flexor:
Chart 1.
SNS Boots & Binding Compatibility (Ease of Step-In) Chart:

Q: How does someone know if they have an original, cut or pilot flexor?
Skiers will have the original flexor unless they actually "cut" it (manually modify it). Pilot does not have a flexor; "Pilot Flexor" just means Pilot binding.
Q: I have Pilot bindings now. Will the new skate boots work in them?
Every skate boot made with Pilot will work with every skate Pilot binding.
Q: What about classic boots and bindings?
2010 classic boots with RS17 sole will work with Propulse and Pilot Classic bindings.
2009 classic boots with RS10 sole will work with Propulse and Pilot Classic bindings.
The only real drawback of using RS10 classic boots with new Propulse bindings is that the new binding is farther underfoot so you need to compress the bumper to get into it easy and the final follow through ends a bit faster. We have a replacement bumper coming that makes the fit seamless or people just cut the bumper (i.e., the "Cut Flexor" compatibility in the second chart).
We have World Cuppers using RS17 boots and Propulse bindings on cold days and Pilot Classic bindings on their klister skis where they have no icing problem.
