HOUGHTON, Mich. - Registration for the 2011 USSA Michigan Tech Super Tour Event presented by Portage Health is now open. The event, January 28-30, will feature races for youth through professional skiers and everyone in between. All races are at the Michigan Tech Nordic Training Center, host of the 2006 Junior Olympics and the 2007 and 2008 U.S. National Championships.
“Michigan Tech is proud to host the 2011 USSA Michigan Tech Super Tour Event presented by Portage Health,” said athletic director Suzanne Sanregret. “We have a strong tradition of Nordic skiing at Michigan Tech and in the Keewenaw. We are excited to host an event of the caliber of the Super Tour. Many thanks go to our sponsors and all of the volunteers that make it possible to host this event.”
The weekend will kick off with a sprint prologue (qualifying times only, no subsequent heats) at 3 p.m. Friday. Saturday will feature five-and 10-kilometer individual start classical races starting at 10 a.m. The weekend will conclude Sunday with 10-and 15-kilometer mass start freestyle races starting at 9:30 a.m. Youth through high school races will be shorter each day.
