STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO (Dec. 5) - Olympic silver medalist Todd Lodwick (Steamboat Springs, CO) completed a sweep of the weekend Continental Cup in Steamboat with another convincing win on Sunday. Lodwick will now head for the World Cup in Austria after the pair of tuneups in his hometown.
It was his second straight win after a victory a day earlier. It was the first time local fans had seen Lodwick in action in Steamboat since the Olympic Trials last December.
Lodwick jumped to eighth at Howelsen Hill, starting the cross country segment 36 seconds back from German Sebastian Reuschel. But it didn't even take him a lap around the Rodeo Grounds course to move up and challenge for the lead.
It was another good day for the next tier of American nordic combined skiers with three more skiers behind Lodwick in the top 30. Eric Camerota (Park City, UT) was 10th, Nick Hendrickson (Park City, UT) 16th and Erik Lynch (Steamboat Springs, CO) 29th.
The Continental Cup now heads to Utah for a pair of events this weekend at the Utah Olympic Park jumps in Park City and the cross country track at Soldier Hollow. Olympic champion Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) will join the tour as planned, while Lodwick heads to the World Cup.
