Todd Vigland of the Vasa Ski Club announced that the club will host the Michigan Cup Sprints on Sunday, February 6, the day after the White Pine Stampede. The time and venue have yet to be determined. The race has been added back to the Michigan Cup schedule and will count toward Michigan Cup Points.
The race had been dropped from the schedule during the August Michigan Cup Committee meeting by the former Sprints race director, Mike Muha, so he could focus on promoting racing and skiing in southeast Michigan and because the date conflicted with the non-Michigan Cup Vasa Sprints in Traverse City.
Originally, the race was held at Hanson Hills Recreation Area in Grayling, Michigan. Expectations are the race will move to the Traverse City area.
