The US Cross Country Ski Team's Morgan Arritola became the first women ever to run the Baldy Hill Climb in under 40 minutes. The 1.86-mile course rose 3,140 vertical feet from the Warm Springs ski run bridge—elevation 5,880 feet—to the top of Mount Baldy—elevation 9,020 feet, in Sun Valley, Idaho. Arritloa crushed her originally course record (41:34 set in 2006) with a time of 39:51.
The 2010 Baldy Hill Climb featured warm temperatures, clear blue skies, and a record number of competitors (299), competing in the hiking, running, biking and the abusive "Cheeso Double" (bike plus hike) divisions. The Men's record set by Michael Tobin (35:11) was narrowly missed by Miles Fink-Debray. Bill Nurge and Sara Schroeder were crowned winner of the Cheeso Double while Matt Luhn set a new Men's course record for the mountain bike division.
The Brady Hill Climb is sponsored by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, also the home town ski club for Arritola. Arritola was named to the 2010-2011 US Ski Team on September 14, 2010.
