Harry Spehar has cancelled the 24 Hours of Telemark cross-country ski race, scheduled for January 8 and 9, because the closing of the Telemark Lodge would leave participants without an indoor venue nearby to warm up and regroup.
The 24T, which drew about 250 participants in its solo and team competitions, is the first to pull the plug because the resort has been shuttered. Competition from other events on the January calendar, including the new Sisu Ski Fest in Ironwood, also weighed into the decision to cancel the 24T, Spehar said.
