OBERWIESENTHAL, Germany (Aug. 14) – After back-to-back weekends, the summer nordic combined Grand Prix series wrapped up on Saturday in Oberwiesenthal. Norway's Magnus-H. Moan won, while Olympic silver medalist Brett Camerota (Park City, UT) finished first for the U.S. in 16th.
Moan grabbed his second win in Oberwiesenthal finishing with a time of 26:05.30, six seconds ahead of second place Johannes Rydzek of Germany. The Czech Republic's Miroslav Dvorak finished third, crossing the line nearly 30 seconds after the top two.
Camerota just missed the top 15 by three tenths to finish in 16th with a time of 27:48.80. He was followed by three teammates inside the top 30, scoring points towards world rankings. Nick Hendrickson (Park City, UT), Bryan Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) and Taylor Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) respectively finished 21, 24 and 25.
Saturday's event concluded the summer Grand Prix series. Competition for the Nordic Combined Team will pick up again in the fall.
