Department of Natural Resources and Environment officials announced that construction on 15.3 miles of the 92-mile is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 2.
The project involves a section of the trail from Sunnyside Drive in Cadillac (Wexford County) to Kent Street in LeRoy (Osceola County). This section of the trail will be closed while construction - including grading, drainage, asphalt paving, seeding, restoration and other improvements - is completed. This project is anticipated to conclude on or about Oct. 31, 2010.
This is a DNRE project, being completed in conjunction with the Department of Technology, Management and Budget and Transportation and the Department of Transportation. M.C. Smith and Associates of East Grand Rapids is the design consultant for this project.
