Friday night's rain killed much of the snow on the Boyne Highlands cross country ski trails, forcing the course director to cancel tomorrow's (Sunday Jan 4) Boyne Highland's Classic race. There is still a base of snow on many trails, but not enough to hold a race. Although there a chance of a little snow tonight, the probability isn't very high, and it was decided to cancel now so that people could make other plans.
The lower golf course has very poor snow conditions. In fact, a hotel guest came in to the Boyne Highlands Nordic Center and asked for a golf score card - he wanted to go out and hit a few balls!
Brian Carlson and Nick Baic for the USSA Great Lakes District are looking around for a venue to hold an Olympic Qualifier for juniors who have traveled far for tomorrow's race. The various JO coaches will be contacted with more info.
