The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team coaching staff will host the 2010 National Training Group (NTG) camp in Park City June 10-20 where the NTG will make use of USSA’s new Center of Excellence training.
Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT), who finished the season as the fourth-ranked sprinter in the world, will attend several camp workouts and will compete in the camp’s sprint race. He will also present a sprint tactics talk to the group.
NTG athletes have been chosen based on outstanding performances from last season, including U.S. Championships, Junior Olympics, NCAA Championships and World Junior / U23 World Championships. Many of the named NTG athletes will be attending their first ever national camp.
While the camp goals are to train, educate and motivate the country’s best developing athletes, the primary purpose of the camp is to get the athletes together at one venue to train and compete head-to-head at the beginning of the preparation period. Several club coaches will be in attendance to help coach the camp.
