Marquette, MI — The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting it’s first of many events for this upcoming winter!
On Saturday, January 7th, the NTN will have National Trails Day. This event will include free lessons, free trail passes and free ski demo’s from Down Wind Sports & Sports Rack Ltd. The ski demo’s will feature Rossignol, Fischer, Madshus & Atomic ski brands.
On Sunday, January 8th, the NTN will be hosting the Kids and Family Adventure Day. This event will also include free lessons, free trail passes and free ski demo’s from Down Wind Sports & Sports Rack, Ltd. There will also be free hot cocoa and donuts at the trailhead.
Free cross-country group ski lessons will be offered both days. The times and details of each lesson are: 11am Beginning Classical Skiing, 12pm Intermediate Classical Skiing, 1pm Beginning Skate Skiing and 2pm Intermediate Skate Skiing. All lessons will be taught by Susan Brian, the Executive Director of the NTN, and certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America.
The NTN asks that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson time to sign up. Equipment is not included with the lesson, and demo’s may be limited so you may want to make other arrangements for your own equipment.
The weekend will also “kick-off” the new “Blue-Shoes” program, which is a free snowshoe program offered to the community for all ages throughout the winter. Snowshoes are first-come first-serve and can accommodate small children and adults. This program was funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Marquette County Active Living Task Force.
All events will take place at the new Forestville Trailhead.
The Noquemanon Trail Network is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that promotes development of integrated, multi-use, non-motorized trails. For more information on the NTN, contact Susan Brian at (906)228-6182.
