ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Michigan Tech Nordic ski team opened 2010 by competing in the freestyle sprints at the US National Championships in Anchorage, Alaska, Saturday (Jan. 2). Senior Elizabeth Quinley qualified for the Under-23 heats but did not start due to health issues caused by the cold temperatures.
Senior Henna Riikonen-Purtsi finished 31st in qualifying, one spot out of the heats.
Other results among the women include: freshman Lynn Duijndam, 72nd; sophomore Melanie Hoffman, 81st; senior Jenna Klein, 95th; freshman Sarah Daniels, 97th; sophomore Christina Mischica, 101st and junior Kristen Monahan, 114th.
Two men also competed in the sprints. Sophomore Colin Singleton finished 76th and freshman Kelsey Boyer was 94th.
Competition continued with the freestyle race Monday, Jan. 4th.
