For the second time, the Viessmann FIS World Cup Cross-Country will take place in Düsseldorf in December, rather than in the beginning of the season. The 8th edition of the famous city sprint at the river Rhine will be staged on 5th-6th December 2009 and can be combined ideally with Christmas shopping.
The set-up for the World Cup is already well underway. The snow has been produced, as in the years before, in the Allrounder Ski Hall in Neuss, just outside the city of Düsseldorf. About 160 athletes from 24 nations are expected to come to the German metropolis and take part in the Sprint on Saturday, 5th December, and in the Team Sprint on Sunday, 6th December 2009.
Besides top level sport, there will be a lot going on at the Rhine. Switzerland Tourism, the partner of Allrounder, will put on a strong entertainment program for the spectators and a Christmas market will take place, too.
