The upcoming weekend, 21st-22nd November, will see the kick-off of the 29th FIS Cross-Country World Cup season in Beitostoelen (NOR). Situated about 220km in the north-west of Oslo at the foot of the Jotumheimen Mountain, the venue presents itself with a good amount of snow. Last weekend, Beitostoelen staged the Norwegian National Opening with ten races in three days (Cross-Country and Biathlon).
After the Beitostoelen weekend, the Cross-Country family will be moving north-west to the north of Finland. The FIS Nordic Opening, a joint World Cup weekend for all FIS Nordic disciplines will take place for the eighth time in Kuusamo (FIN) on 27th-29th November. True season opener for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, this long weekend will be the first and only time before the Olympic Games in Vancouver (CAN) that all three Nordic disciplines compete together in the same period of time.
