Course and weather conditions are expected to be perfect for Saturday's annual Limestone Loppet in Warrenville, IL. The Nov. 7 event, produced by Northern Illinois Nordic, includes an off-road (limestone) 8K freestye time trial and 4K Cat-Ski Race. Race time is 9 a.m. Central Standard Time at McKee marsh in the north end of Blackwell Forest Preserve in DuPage County. The Cat-Ski race is at 10 a.m.
"Things will be ideal because we will not have had a freeze-thaw cycle and the limestone trail will be smooth and fast," said race director Bob Richards.
In the 8K, racers, will start every 20 seconds. A field of 30-40 is expected. The Cat-Ski race will be a mass start with a field of 10 or less expected, Richards said.
Raffle prizes wil include contributions from Casco and Salice (Joe Gollinger), Motioneering (Doug Garfield) and others.
Skiers from out of the area and skiers who never have been a roller-ski race are urged to attend, Richards said. Mckee Marsh is located on Mack Road, 1.3 miles west of Winfield Road and .3 east of Illinois Route 59.
