Wednesday 4th November marks 100 days until the opening of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. After over six years of hard work preparing to host the world, Vancouver 2010 is now entering the final countdown before its Games get underway and the Olympic flame reaches the Olympic Stadium. To celebrate this occasion, a number of different announcements and events are being held by the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee (VANOC) and its partners and stakeholders. For example Vancouver 2010 organizers will officially take over the C$1.2 billion Athletes Village in Vancouver as part of a series of events to mark the occasion. At Whistler officials are hosting three events, including a community celebration to rally residents around the Games.
All of the venues for the Vancouver Games are now complete. Made up of a combination of new and renovated venues, many of the sites for these Games combine spectacular architecture or scenery with state-of-the-art sustainability initiatives that will leave a lasting legacy not just for sport but for the region in general.
Vancouver and Whistler will host the XXI Olympic Winter Games from 12th to 28th February 2010. The first FIS medal events will take place on 13th February, including the men's downhill in Alpine Skiing, men's normal hill competition in Ski Jumping and ladies' moguls in Freestyle Skiing.
