HAYWARD, Wis., September 3, 2009 - The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) has announced that it is seeking grant applications for young skier programs associated with middle and high schools and cross-country ski organizations throughout the country.
“The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-country skiing as a fun, energetic activity that is part of a healthy lifestyle,” said Executive Director Ned Zuelsdorff. “A significant portion of the effort focuses on young skiers. To this end the Foundation annually provides grant funding to young skier programs associated with middle and high schools and cross-country ski organizations throughout the country.”
Zuelsdorff said the ABSF will award a total of $14,000 in grants with up to $1,000 being awarded to each organization selected. He said grant applications from youth cross-country ski programs throughout the country are welcomed.
Priorities for ABSF funding include, but are not limited to the creation or expansion of young skier programs and first time applicants.
