The Birkebeiner/Kortelopet are limited to the first 7,500 total registrants. Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis.
Entry fees rise after July 31 so register now!
"We're coming up on our first registration cut-off and already have more than 1,300 skiers signed up for the 2010 event this coming February," says Ned Zuelsdorff, Executive Director of the Birkie. "We're [adding the 7,500 registration cap] to assure that you have the best quality race experience possible. We are working on addressing the infrastructure limitations we have, such as limited parking, congestion in getting to the start line, skier bag storage, etc. We plan to continue to grow the American Birkebeiner event in the future, but will not sacrifice the quality you expect from the Birkie."
Last year, 7,193 skiers registered for the Birkebeiner (4,949) and Kortelopet (2,244).
The Worldloppet organization recently approved adding the 2010 Birkie Skate Race to the Worldloppet Marathon Cup for this coming winter as requested by the Birkie Board. The Birkie expects to draw additional elite international and national skiers this year.
